Biography

Associate Professor Emerita M. Candace Feck holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Webster College, earning her MA in Dance and her PhD in Art Education from The Ohio State University. During her 26 years at OSU, she created and taught courses in contemporary dance history and theater, dance criticism and theory, and oral history methodology, among others. Her essays, criticism and research have been published in journals, book chapters, proceedings, CDs, films, websites and archives, and shared in numerous conference presentations. Professor Feck served on the Executive Board of the Congress on Research in Dance (CORD), founded the Dance Minor at OSU and served as Director of Graduate Studies. She is the recipient of a Michael Sherker Award for Excellence and Innovation in Dance Documentation and Preservation (1998) and a National Dance Association Award for sustained contributions to the field of Dance and Technology (2000). She continues to teach in guest positions around the country, and is currently at work on a major oral history and preservation initiative for the Ohio Dance organization.
