Marino Demata is the founder, together with the collaborator of Rive Gauche-Festival, of the Firenze FilmCorti Festival.
The Festival takes place every year and this has contributed to the creation of other events in collaboration with Comune di Firenze, the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, and the University of Florence.
Over the years, Marino has organised various film reviews, screening movies previously unknown in Italy, New Turkish Cinema, Cinema from Latin America etc.
He has collaborated with several institutions and organisations, such as Comune and University of Firenze, and Viesseux Cabinet (Gabinetto Viesseux), in the creation and planning of commemoration events for the anniversary of Pasolini’s death. He also investigated the artistic relationship between Pasolini and Eduardo De Filippo through articles, which have been published by Centro Studi of Casarsa della Delizia.

Marino has been Professor of Philosophy, and he currently is researcher and writer of essays, reviews and articles on cinema. Most of them are published on the Magazine that he edits (https://rivegauche-filmecritica.com/).
He collaborates with cinema magazines on a regular basis and he has written essays on the innovative movements in the history of cinema.
He has been President of several associations: he has been the Administrator of Borghi Toscani - Tuscany Countries, and he worked as a Managing Director for the UK-based Escapes To Italy Ltd.
