Gabriela Mellão is a playwright, theater director and critic.
She has a graduate degree in Cultural Journalism at PUC SP; studies at Sorbonne University, in Paris (Culture and French Civilization) and Harvard, in Boston (Playwright and Modern Theater).
Since 2006 she collaborates for Bravo! Magazine, the most important cultural magazine in Brazil, working today as its critic. It is a member of International Association of Theater Critics. Since 2015 she is part of the jury of the APCA Theater Award in São Paulo. Gabriela worked as reporter of the newspaper Folha de São Paulo between 2008 and 2012 and as curator of several theater festivals and open announcements.
She has several plays written and directed by her, among them: Kansas (2018), play about fear in contemporary world; DesolaDor (2018/19), solo about Artaud with Clovys Tôrres; Nijinsky – Minha Loucura é o Amor da Humanidade (2014/15), play about Nijinsky that was presented at Avignon Festival. Also is the author of Sylvia Plath – Ilhada em Mim (2014-18) APCA award for the staging of André Guerreiro; Espasmo (2013), Correnteza (2012), and others.
She published the book “Gabriela Mellão – Coleção Primeiras Obras”, with some of her plays.
“Possible Fragments” is her first video work, a mix of theater and cinema.
