Movie enthusiasts are choosier than ever. With so many films being produced and distributed across theatres and OTT platforms, cinemas need to offer high-quality, big-budget movies or unique experiences to draw film audiences in.

The biggest disruptor is the surge of Over-the-top (OTT) platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, WFCN Canvas and Canvas-On-Demand. These services offer a vast library of films readily available at home, often for a monthly subscription fee which can be cheaper than a single cinema ticket. This convenience and affordability have shifted some film audience preferences towards film streaming.

Cinemas need to find a balance between offering an attractive experience and keeping ticket prices competitive. Ticket prices and concession stand expenses can be a strain on some cinemagoers' budgets, especially with rising costs of living.

Many single-screen theaters in India struggle to compete with the modern amenities and comfort offered by multiplex chains. Upgrading infrastructure requires significant investment.
