Film marketing creates awareness that the movie exists and generates interest among potential viewers. A great film might languish in obscurity without a good film marketing campaign. Trailers, posters, and social media campaigns all play a part in this. Marketing is not only just about blanketing everyone with ads. It is also about identifying the target audience for the film and crafting messages that resonate with them. A comedy film marketed towards action movie fans is unlikely to succeed.

A well-executed film marketing campaign builds anticipation and excitement for a film's release. This in trun results into higher opening weekend numbers and stronger word-of-mouth buzz. Even a good film might face negative pre-release buzz. Film marketing can help address concerns and reframe the narrative around the movie.

The moral of the story is, while a strong script, talented cast, and skilled direction are essential, a movie needs a strategic film marketing push to get noticed and convince people to see it.
