Director's Biography
Yogi Devgan is a film director and producer from Adelaide, Australia. Having grown up in both India and the UK, He has been exposed to cultural diversity and gained a wealth of knowledge from around the world. This has helped him appreciate the subtle complexities of life, leading him to pursue a career in the creative industry. From a young age, Yogi developed a passion for storytelling, but due to moving countries and limited resources in India, He lost sight of his dream. However, during the Covid pandemic, his artistic side began to emerge once again and led him to enrol in the Bachelor of Film and Television program at the University of South Australia, which he completed in November 2022. Additionally, in 2020, He founded his own production company, Mount Lofty Studios, which allows him to produce and direct projects without creative boundaries. He currently feels inspired and in touch with his creations, he is convinced that his gift for connecting with human emotions through film will contribute to making the world a better and more connected place. Recently, when he went to India to attend a family wedding, he was inspired by true events to shoot a 30-minute short film. He believes that filmmaking has the power to connect people and evoke emotions that can make a positive impact on our world. In 2022, he created the Port Adelaide Diversity and Inclusion Film Festival – a platform to recognise and showcase films and screenplays that represent cultural diversity, under-represented and minority groups in our communities, and those made with a balanced and diverse, inclusive team or crew. Devgan strongly believes in giving back to the community, therefore, he has also worked as a volunteer on the Channel 44 television shows, ‘Our Time’ and ‘The Divide’ (since 2020) in various roles, including: Camera Operator, Assistant Director, Camera Switching and Sound.
