Director's Biography
Alberto Ramirez is a Los Angeles based author, screenwriter, director, film producer and co-founder of Punch Box Productions. He graduated from UCLA with a degree in English Literature. His works include the novel, Everything That Could Not Happen Will Happen Now (Floricanto & Berkeley Presses 2016), a Las Comadres & Friends National Latino Book Club Selection, and five short films: Punch Box (Finalist Prague International Film Festival 2021), Penology (Winner Amsterdam International Film Festival 2021), The Tent (Finalist Best Director Award Film Festival London 2021), Under the Tumtum Tree (Official Selection Wallachia International Film Festival 2021) and Liberty Beat Your Drum! (Semi-Finalist Stockholm City Film Festival 2021).
Director's Statement
My mission as a screenwriter, director and filmmaker is to champion equity and diversity in the creative process of filmmaking. I'm dedicated to writing and producing highly entertaining, thought provoking, socially conscious films by and for historically silenced and underrepresented voices.
