Director's Biography

Jack graduated from Hampshire College with a degree in film, animation, and visual effects. In the past, he has worked on Marvel's Ant-man and the Wasp, as well as an unreleased documentary about the 369th Regiment during WWII being produced by Monmouth University. "Spirit Hand" is Jack's third short film that he wrote, directed, and edited.

Director's Statement

I chose to write and direct "Spirit Hand" because the theme of someone being gone but not forgotten is an extremely prevalent aspect of my life at the moment. Having just graduated from college, I will be saying goodbye to many friends who have become an important and consistent part of my life. The start of this new chapter brought me to thinking about those who have passed on and how even in death they persist in a person's life. I felt it important that the film takes place during the 2020-2021 time span as many of us, myself included, have had to deal with loss this past year while needing to remain in quarantine. In writing "Spirit Hand," I hoped to be able to explore how a person holds onto someone they care about both through the perspective of the living character, in this case Abigail, and the person no longer around, who is represented by Jessie. Thank you for taking the time to watch the film, and I hope you enjoy!
