Questions have to be answered and truth looks right into their eyes when a thief, a mere child driven by hunger and deprivation, breaks into the home of a middle class family. Torn between what they know is right and yet at times knowingly going against their conscience to satisfy their need and greed, "Asamay" (Torment of the Times) shows the wrangle between ideals and survival.

Director's Statement
Essentially it's a drama in a theatrical form and it was acted in front of the camera. Since it is made for the camera, by definition it's a film, but the acting style, form, stage, props are like in theatre.
I am still contemplating about the name of this form/presentations, maybe "filmed theatre". For now I call it an "Experimental Film".
I'm researching and building this newer form of presentation of the theatres as films. I also evaluating the public acceptance of this form in parallel to other forms of cinemas. This film was done in a day maintaining all government and social regulations.
The story of the film is a very timely story. The degeneration of the moral and fundamental values are becoming common in practice. As a result, the cheating and stealing are becoming the core characteristic of our society. People are not ashamed doing these and it is well accepted in the society and became a norm today. The story depicts this side of the society and people's psychology.
