Director's Statement
The modern Slavery, governments corruption in the Arab world in general and particularly in Jordan, Arab Spring with its all outcomes on the region, Arabic traditions and caste distinctions, traditional religious practices. As a young Jordanian writer and Director, I want to talk about all of these topics and criticise them from the youth’s perspective which became devastated from this situation, where their rights became unachievable dreams, under corrupt governments, and many conflicts and wars in the neighbouring countries.
These conflicts affected the Jordanian society badly, which led to increase number of unemployment and crime and made the youth work for minimum wages and in very bad conditions, which created the modern slavery in Jordan and the region
I am aiming to shed light on all of these subjects in a sarcastic way through my dark comedy film which is a well- received genre in the world in general.
The two main characters in my film Osama and Ghalib represent two different social classes, where Osama is an educated civil engineer who lives in the capital city Amman, while Ghalib is an uneducated Bedouin lives in the Mafraq desert, near the Jordan-Syrian borders.
