Examples of voice work include animated, off-stage, off-screen or non-visible characters in various works such as feature films, dubbed foreign-language films, animated films, anime, television shows, video games, cartoons, movie documentaries, film commercials, audiobooks, radio dramas and comedies, amusement rides, film theater productions, puppet shows and audio games. The role of a voice actor may involve singing, most often when playing a fictional character although a separate performer is sometimes enlisted as the character's singing voice.

Voice over is a film production technique where a voice is recorded for off-screen use. While prominently used to reference movies and television.

Voice over is popularly shortened to “vo” and we will be using this shortened two-letter version of voice over in the article for brevity. Successful voice actors possess a diverse range of vocal abilities, including the capacity to manipulate pitch, tone, pacing and delivery to suit the requirements of different characters or projects. They also need to be skilled at interpreting scripts, taking direction from movie directors or film producers and adapting their performances to fit the context of the project.

Voice acting requires a combination of technical proficiency, creativity, and the ability to convey a character's emotions and personality solely through the voice. It's a dynamic and competitive field, and voice actors often need to audition for roles and continually develop their craft to stay relevant in the film industry.

Recorded voices are all around us. In fact, most people are so accustomed to hearing human voices integrated into their favorite products spaces and services that they might never stop to ask the obvious question: whose voice am I hearing? The answer, of course, is that of a voiceover artist.

Voice acting is the art of performing through voice to portray a character, mimic voices, add life to on-screen conversations, or provide information to an audience. Voice actors and actresses are also described as voice artists, voice talent, voiceover artists, or voiceover talent.  As voice actors are rarely seen on-screen, their sole means of expressing their emotions is through their voice. Therefore, voice actors must train and practice meticulously to provide the most remarkable performance possible, constantly mastering their vocal skills.
