Director's Biography
Sourabh Shukla’s debut feature film is 1888. Before this he has dabbled in a few short films and a documentary. He is a self-taught filmmaker who was an engineer in an MNC before pursuing his passion in filmmaking. With no background in the film industry nor any experience with anyone either as an assistant or being a part of the crew, his only source of learning was shooting and editing on his own along with watching a lot of movies from all parts of the world.
Director's Statement
1888 is a thoroughly researched Guerrilla film which, though experimental in nature, is still mainstream. Just like its title, the movie is multi-layered. The idea behind shooting a mainstream movie indie style was basically to experiment and see if the raw and natural can be balanced with cinematic elements and certain commercial elements too, to create a new experience for the movie audience.
