LAST COYOTE TREATMENT:
We open on Cains’s face in darkness, red dusk light splashes onto his face. He awakes.
Introduces Jane as shadow figure. She is a trench coat standing on the other side of the shack. She tears off another wanted poster from the wall. More red-light splashes into the room.
Canis finds out he is tied up and he struggles to get free while Jane tears off more posters and tosses them to Canis’ feet.
On the poster he sees his old crew mates and every last one of them. He looks around and finds himself surrounded by old trinkets that they had all illuminated by the red light.
He tries to hold conversation with her, but she just walks closer and closer to him. She reveals herself to him.
He hatches a plan and tries to taunt her into some hasty action, while he is trying to free his hands from the binds.
He is successful in goading her to come closer with the gun and when she is pointing it at his head, he stanches it out of her hands.
He slowly rises up and adjusts his wardrobe, returning himself to his former glory. And speech to her ensues. Yet he doesn’t know he has fallen into her trap.
She let him take her gun, and when his join forces with him speech doesn’t work, he tries to shoot her but he has no bullets in his gun.
Afraid for his life, he runs out the door only to find a grave yard with crosses all over and one single patch of ground dug shallow with a grave marker over it.
She follows him outside slowly. And she points her gun at him to try to get him to beg but in his last moments he realizes that this is what he lives for. “Nobody can make me feel weak ever again.” The life of a free man who lives and dies by the gun.
After refusing her offer of laying down and die they come to a begrudging respect for each other and she tosses him the bullets.
They both load their gun as the duel is set. Ghosts among dead men. They draw and Jane misses, then Canis lands a bullet in her abdomen. But Canis subsumes to his TB as well and they both fall to the ground.
Jane still wanting to murder Canis crawls to him bleeding out in the process and chokes him.
Canis mocks her one last time before dying and Jane finds her victory. She laughs but she looks at her bloodied hands and self and the happiness quickly fades away. She looks at Canis, realizes he was right and this was never about her husband but herself.
She falls into the shallow grave while Canis lays on the ground next to her.
