Director's Biography

My name is Ruben and my stage name is ChiCheese Rivera and my story began on snap chat 2016 with Sam & Bobby at work. Best individual friends anyone can have until you put us three together. I was quiet outside cracking jokes with customers. But Sam would instigate bobby and me into a roast battle. I fired as best I could, I thought I did great, but all Bobby (looks like Gru from minions) could say, is what school did you go to whacky school of jokes. And countless times bobby would leave me red and speechless. Well, Sam and Bobby left the company in the coming months and I loved filming and cracking jokes. So I started to do my own on snap chat with 60 of my closet friends and family. I would say random punch lines two to four times daily. Months past and my friend Chacho said I was really funny and I should do a standup comedy. I said I’ll think about it and I got with my other BFF Vince. But I have a saying I don’t have friends, I only have BFFs. Vince agreed to collab, I made the date for Tempe improv new faces of comedy august 2018. I was asking a lot of people for feedback until I grabbed the best jokes. 7pm came and I was nervous and felt like I had to leave. But I couldn’t leave my guest. So I got some beer and drank two. I walked on stage nervously, and I looked at my hands and said, I forgot all my lines but I wrote them on my body so I looked at my hands and said you are not gonna like it! (opening my zipper) cuz you’re gonna love it. After every joke I said, I got a good response from the crowd. But I could only look three rows deep on top of my hands. I missed one punch line. It was a great experience that I wanted to do again, I was hooked. I went to Stand up live and then again in Tempe improve new faces of comedy and been performing for mellow b entertainment. Fellow comedians told me to do skits, I was like wow. I’m already doing jokes on snap.
So I started using snap chat filters to create characters mostly English and some Spanish. I thought there were great and everything was going good with my hobby until me and my wife mutually agreed to separate in April 2019. I was hurt and confused but having faith in God, staying positive and friends helped. Weeks later, I reached out to collab with influencer company over 500 million followers and we met and they asked me to write skits for mainly the one girl and a few with the top model. Unfortunately, the collab didn’t pan out. One thing I learn from the agency is patience. I was hoping to add a girl in my videos. I’ve been asking for months and some said yes but they never came. I was a bit shy and hesitant to do this, but I had to reinvent myself and made a girl that has tacos tattoo on the stomach and lower back and pronounces around twisting her arms with a flannel showing her navel wearing boots and short shorts.
In October, World star opened the gates to be featured for the top 5 comedy & all artist competition. I submitted line dancing with firme cholo twice and hot cheetos with my 11 year old and Tacos B4 vatos. I ranked as high on the leaderboard 248 between all artists. Unfortunately I didn’t win the contest, but it was exciting to see positive feedback.
I love comedy, I’m doing standup, sketch comedy and besides I’m collabing with Arizona’s fighting enthusiast Sam Alvarez on a podcast covering boxing, MMA and everything in between called A2Z Combat with a touch of ChiCheese comedy in character broken English and doesn’t shake hands because everyone is suspect… People can follow me at CheeseComedy.com. Why the name ChiCheese Rivera. Well, some say I say cheesy jokes and I wanted something catchy. It pronounced Chee Cheese written in English and sounds Spanish to represent Mexican American.
So here I am with my hobby: a writer, actor, comedian, video editor, director and single with a lot of ambitions and love to surprise with nothing to lose but to chase a dream at 39 years old, with great amazing friends and family who help with support and feedback. What also keeps me going is laughing and people but most of all the helping me thru all this is my faith in God
