Director's Statement
Here's the deal. It's a crazy comedy we made with literally no money. I know, every indie filmmaker says that but really, we just went out and did it. Most of the films I direct, I rely on a troupe of actors and write specifically for them. That's because I'm also a theatre kid where we constantly work as an ensemble. My film prior to "Some Night" was a drama that explored heavier themes of loss and love and I painted myself as this Serious Filmmaker channeling my inner P.T. Anderson.
After that cathartic experience (and realizing later on how inauthentic that exercise was), I just wanted to make a film with my collaborators that was pure fun, from start to finish. A movie about my friends, WITH my friends. "Some Night" came out of that energy, and we set out to make a crazy, colorful yet unabashedly authentic party of a movie.
