The Nagpur edition of the Pune International Film Festival will begin on March 8



A three-day film festival featuring international movies will be held in Nagpur. This special edition of the Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) runs from March 8th to 10th at the VR Mall on Medical Square. The film festival is overseen by Dr. Jabbar Patel, a renowned film director and the head of PIFF.


The Pune International Film Festival's Nagpur Edition will showcase 15 movies, including films from around the world, India, and Marathi cinema alone with one documentary. This information was announced by Ajay Gampawar at a press conference on Friday. The film festival kicks off on March 8th at 6 pm with a ceremony featuring Dr. Jabbar Patel, film expert Samar Nakhate, former FTII dean Vishal Shinde, and concludes with the Iranian opening film "Terrestrial Verses." Before the Nagpur Edition of the Pune International Film Festival kicks off, there's a special workshop to help you appreciate films even more! On March 7th, film expert Samar Nakhate will lead a session titled "Understanding Cinema" at the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (RGNIIPM) on Hislop College Road in Civil Lines. The workshop will run from 3 pm to 8 pm.


Get ready for a double dose of cinema! On March 9th and 10th, the film festival will screen 7 films each day. In addition to the film screenings, there will also be a seminar and a panel discussion happening between 10 am and 8:30 pm on both days.


The film festival will showcase a diverse selection of movies from Iran, Portugal, France, Italy, Spain, and Egypt, alongside Indian cinema. There's more! Casting director Abhishek Banerjee will lead a seminar titled "Cinema, Vidarbha and Opportunity" on both March 9th and 10th. Dr. Ruta Dharmadhikari will host a panel discussion featuring filmmakers Shantanu Rode, Shailesh Narwade, Chhatrapal Ninave, film producer Narendra Jichkar, and film actor Rituraj Wankhede, all of whom have won national awards for their work. Youths and film enthusiasts have a great opportunity to experience international cinema, gain an understanding of global culture, and learn from film professionals working in the film industry through the film festival.


The Pune International Film Festival's Nagpur Edition is being held in partnership with several organizations. These include the Maharashtra Film, Theatre and Cultural Development Corporation, the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, the Pune Film Foundation, and the Meraki Performing Arts Organisation. It's important to note that registration is required to attend the film festival screenings, workshops, and discussions.
