Fatma Chetoui is a Tunisian film producer, screenwriter, and scenographer with a master’s degree in audiovisual production. Her work bridges the worlds of storytelling and design, grounded in a deep artistic sensibility and a clear creative vision. Fatma is especially passionate about low-budget filmmaking, not as a limitation but as a space for innovation — a theme she explored in her academic thesis on the Tunisian film industry, focusing on how strong narratives and artistic direction can thrive even with minimal resources.
She wrote and produced a short film that was selected and screened at FIFAK, showcased in Italy, and included in the Cinémathèque Tunisienne program. She has also worked as a production manager on numerous student and independent projects, gaining hands-on experience in managing crews, production logistics, and creative problem-solving. As a former General Secretary of the Tunisian Federation of Amateur Filmmakers (FTCA), she supported emerging filmmakers and contributed to the growth of Tunisia’s independent cinema scene.
Fatma’s background in scenography allows her to approach film with a unique eye for space, atmosphere, and emotional texture. She excels at creating environments from scratch, shaping the ambiance of a film to align with its psychological core. Inspired by early expressionist cinema — particularly The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari — she is drawn to bold visual contrasts, stylized decor, and immersive, symbolic spaces that express the internal lives of characters.
Her artistic vision extends into photography, where she is particularly inspired by black-and-white imagery and high-contrast compositions. Though she hasn’t publicly shared her photographic work, this passion influences the visual tone and framing of her film projects, lending her work a strong and distinctive identity.
Today, Fatma continues to write screenplays and develop new projects that explore themes of memory, identity, and emotional vulnerability. She is actively seeking collaborations with filmmakers, artists, and producers who believe in cinema that is intimate, visually rich, and deeply human — regardless of budget.
I create films that speak through emotion, space, and silence. With a love for bold visuals, minimal means, and deep human stories, I explore how atmosphere can carry as much meaning as dialogue. Whether I’m writing, producing, or designing a scene, I’m always chasing the invisible thread that connects the viewer to the soul of the story.
