I am a film maker based in Kerala, India, with a creative journey spanning over two decades. Starting as a photographer in 2000, I worked on music albums and films, eventually transitioning to the film industry as an Assistant Director in 2015. With experience in three films, I approached cinema as a powerful tool for social change, artistic expression, and storytelling.
Through this film, I aim to harness the power of storytelling as a catalyst for social change. Inspired by the rich cultural heritage of Dalit art forms, specifically Parayankali, our narrative weaves together multiple layers of struggle and resilience. At its core, the film sheds light on pressing environmental issues, the exploitation of women within societal constructs, and the systemic marginalization of vulnerable communities. Through the lens of Parayankali, a Dalit art form born out of the struggles of everyday life, we highlight the fight for survival, existence, and cultural preservation.
By amplifying the voices of the marginalized and celebrating the beauty of Dalit art forms, I hope to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable narrative. The revolution we believes in, which promised to uplift the community, ultimately falls short in protecting and empowering us. This stark truth underscores the complexities of social justice and the ongoing struggles of marginalized groups.
