Jayram Waghmode

My name is Jayram Bhaskar Waghmode. I am a filmmaker from Osmanabad, Maharashtra, currently based in Pune, India. I postgraduated in Mass Communication from the Department of Media and Communication Studies at Savitribai Phule Pune University. While studying I discovered my passion for storytelling and filmmaking.

Filmmaking is more than a craft. It is the most impressive medium to address social issues and bring them to the forefront of public consciousness through audio visual storytelling.

I have always been drawn to narratives based on real events, as they give me a chance to explore hidden layers of truth and humanity. For me, cinema becomes a way of engaging with society—offering not answers, but questions that linger long after the film ends.

As a filmmaker, there are stories you choose to tell, and then there are stories that choose you. The haunting reality of modern-day slavery in my hometown of Dharashiv was one such story. It pierced through my soul, forcing me to confront an unimaginable cruelty hidden within the fabric of our society. This silent atrocity demanded a voice—a truthful, empathetic voice that could bring its weight to light.

To honor this narrative, I delved deeply into the lives of its survivors. Their pain, resilience, and quiet courage shaped every word of the script and every frame of the film. Conversations with those who bore these scars, and with the warriors who fought for their justice, became my guiding light.

This is more than a film; it is a mirror reflecting both the depths of human cruelty and the enduring strength of hope. I hope it stirs not just emotions but action, inspiring change where it’s most needed.
