Julie Perreard is a documentary and fiction filmmaker.
After a decade dedicated to editing, beginning in 1998, she turned fully to directing. Initially creating documentary works, camera in hand, she began exploring fiction in 2013 with Marcumaria, her first short film, and Dopu à i muntaneri, where she blends cinema and poetry, gradually refining and asserting her cinematic language.
Her native Corsica inspires her and becomes the privileged setting for her artistic expression, in increasingly personal narratives: On the bare earth (short film, 2018), Quastana (documentary, 2020), or visual art pieces: AnthropoScène (video art, 2021). While the human element occupies a central and intimate place in her work—social relationships, identity, desires, feminist emancipation—her themes intertwine with the notion of "territory," giving rise to immersive, organic, and sensitive works.
