Maria Sotnikova — director, author of arthouse and experimental works.
Her journey in visual art began with photography—she captured models for magazines, exploring light, composition, and emotions in the frame. However, after filming a video sketch in a summer house, she realized that still images could no longer fully express what she wanted to convey. This moment sparked her transition into filmmaking—through sketches, editing, and experiments with form.
She studied at the Gomel College of Design and Computer Graphics, after which she continued to develop in the field of editing and directing. She works with visual storytelling, striving to convey deep meanings through the aesthetics of the frame and the rhythm of editing.
In her works, Maria combines an intuitive approach with attention to detail, playing with rhythm, light, and meaning to make each frame come to life. She is open to collaboration and constantly searching for new ideas that inspire and evoke emotions.
