Paolo Fabbella

Paolo Fabbella is an emerging filmmaker from Castrofilippo with a lifelong passion for cinema and the audiovisual arts. Over the years, his interest in the moving image has been paired with a deep appreciation for orchestral music and film scores—elements that profoundly influence his visual language.

His professional journey began in 2022 with a three-year internship at Rifessi Studios in Racalmuto, where his creative potential and dedication quickly stood out. Following this experience, he transitioned into freelance filmmaking, producing commercials and political campaign videos for local businesses and candidates.

In 2023, he wrote and directed the documentary "Castrofilippo: Piccola Grande Città" (Castrofilippo: Little Big Town). This ambitious project, officially presented at the 30th Onion Festival of Castrofilippo and released on YouTube in 2024, serves as an audiovisual record of the town’s historical roots, based on oral research and interviews with local historians. Filmed with a Canon EOS 550D and edited in Adobe Premiere Pro, the documentary earned significant acclaim, reaching audiences beyond national borders.

Paolo is currently developing several original film projects, including two completed screenplays. Notable among his works is "La morte addosso" (Death Upon Him), a contemporary adaptation of Luigi Pirandello’s novella The Man with the Flower in His Mouth. Released on May 13, 2024, the short film was created for the 7th edition of the International Competition "Uno, Nessuno e Centomila" in Agrigento, where it was awarded the prestigious Special Jury Prize.

In 2025, he further honed his craft by participating in a Film Direction and Acting Workshop led by Lorenzo Tiberia and organized by the Sicilian Film Academy at Palazzo Moncada, Caltanissetta. This certification marks a significant milestone in his professional growth and directorial expertise. With a constant focus on visual storytelling and the heritage of his territory, Paolo Fabbella is a promising young voice in the Italian independent film scene.
