Bengali Independent filmmaker Soumadeep Dasgupta has produced and directed a variety of arts independently. He started his higher academic career as a Computer Engineer in 2019. And he has worked for the past years as an independent musician, theatre artist, screenwriter, lyricist, editor, vocalist, music composer, illustrator, Graphics Designer, Voice-over Artist and many more. Dasgupta's work is always looking into dark corners, finding the light, and addressing the themes of justice, transformation, and healing. Finding the Gold Within is his next film as a director/producer.
He is the founder and director of 'Kothok'. 'Kothok' is a Bengali Independent Arts Production hub, based in Kolkata, located at New Barrackpore. The company was founded while he was in school. It started as an independent art club. He was the lead member of their school classroom band (“Rocking Khandatta”), with many parody songs and own compositions against the education systems in 2009-10 and after that his first band was (“Knights Of Octave”) in 2015-16 with some of his own compositions, as well as 'Rajkonne', 'Obhisap', '24×7', 'Porojibi Prem', 'Jokhon Sob Sesh', 'Vogoban E Vut', 'Chere E Jodi Jabi Chole', 'Juddhobiroti', 'Apon Dharay Dhammo Chole', 'Aj Purnimay', 'Porijai Pakhider gan' and so many others became popular in localities, but they failed to release many popular compositions because of the budget.
But he independently released their first audio short film 'Headphone' in 2017. From this, they made so many audio short films, like 'Ektuku Choya', 'Brishti Shona Jay', 'Dui like Dui, and 'Hottest Guy in The College' that were very successful. 
A short while, The kothok known as a Bengali independent film and Arts Production house in Eastern India with no budget films and arts, by their independent short film 'PREY' in 2020, which has officially been nominated in the Lift-Off International film festival 2021 and Lift-Off First-Time Filmmaker Seasons at Pinewood Studios, the United Kingdom in 2021. Dasgupta also did some micro and mini-short films, like 'DONOR', 'FELONY' in 2019, 'FOR SALE', 'PREY' in 2020, and recently in 2021, their 'WAITING ROOM' – a political satire short film and in 2023 his upcoming project 'Carpe Diem' which one of them is very significant.
