Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre (BARS) is an international film festival devoted to the genres of science fiction, horror and fantasy. Is the oldest fantastic film festival in Latin America.

It began in 2000 with a focus on independent films in those genres, and since 2004 in the form of a competitive festival, Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre is well attended with over 200 films shown and 12.000 public and industry admissions each year. BARS is sponsored by the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) and declared of cultural interest by the legislature of the autonomous city of Buenos Aires.

The oldest genre film festival in Latin America, Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre “has earned the respect of every other festival because of its endurance,” says a panelist. “It’s extremely well-curated and its fans love everything, from bizarre B-films to highbrow horror fare.”
“It’s also important to highlight this festival’s stubbornness,” jokes a panelist, and another panelist agrees, pointing out that it insists on “keeping its main idea of a festival made for horror fans by horror fans.”

The festival delivers diplomas and statuettes to the winners.

The Festival Committee will only consider for selection films related to the following genres: horror, bizarre, science-fiction and fantastic. In the categories: short films, small feature and feature films.

The Festival sections are:
- Feature Competitive Section. Films must have been produced after January 1st 2022.
- Feature Informative Section for feature films: Non competitive section for films from any year of production.
- Shortfilm Competitive Section. Films must have been produced after January 1st 2022.
- Informative Section of Shortfilms: Non competitive section whitout restrictions of duration and year of production.
The festival reserves the right to organize new competitive sections not covered by these rules.

The Festival organizers will select the jury members of every section. Members cannot be those related or with special interest on the production and/or exploitation of the films in competition. Awards will be given under the following categories:

- Best Actor in a Feature Film
- Best Actress in a Feature Film
- Best Feature Screenplay
- Best Feature FX
- Best Feature Cinematography

- Best Short Film
- Best Argentinean Short Film
- Best Short Film Director
- Audience Award for Best Short Film

- Best Iberoamerican Feature Film
- Best Iberoamerican Feature Director
- Best Actor in Iberoamerican Feature Film

- Audience Award for Best Feature
- Audience Award for Best Bizarre Feature
