About

Singapore Independent Film Fair (SIFF) is a global platform for Independent Filmmakers, covering the art of filmmaking and storytelling. It aims towards connecting people from diverse and rich cultural hubs of the world. SIFF organizes annual award ceremonies, provides distribution opportunities, and builds an ever-growing active network of independent filmmakers worldwide. We support independent filmmakers to grow their career in this highly competitive field by showcasing their works in a global platform earning them recognitions and rewards.

SIFF is a monthly film festival. This festival is held every month selecting winners to compete for the grand prize at its Annual Yearly Gala event.
In Southeast Asia, Singapore has emerged as a prime place for film production. With a slew of media companies setting up offices, Singaporean names are emerging in the film and television industries. With high-profile events and conferences on the rise, Lion City is quickly becoming a global force in the increasingly high-staking game of content creation. For our filmmakers, it is vital that their work gets screened within some of the most famous thriving film business-oriented metropolitan cities of the world.

Each month more than 50 films from the different categories are officially selected and out of them, at least one per category is awarded. All these monthly winners are automatically qualified for the annual live screening gala in the Lion City and can be nominated for the prestigious Best of the Best Awards. The annual event is a glamorous red-carpet premiere with press conferences and gala parties in Singapore, in the presence of international movie celebrities and media. The participants have excellent opportunities to exchange their ideas, ideologies and cultural diversities. The winners have a chance to meet with the audience and participate in Q&A after the screening for a healthy discussion about the film.

Mission and Vision

SIFF is a thriving global community of artists and your association can be as big as you want it to be. It is definitely worth submitting to our other festivals as well to widen your work’s platform and maximize your networking opportunities. There are different judges per season, giving your film a better chance of going forwards into the Independent Film Network!

We aim to provide a genuine opportunity to filmmakers, right from the submission level. It is our motto to help you launch your professional career within the film industry - showcasing your work around the world, building connections, exposing you to other filmmakers and producers for an active collaboration and knowledge exchange. We expect to receive films with courage, personable endeavor and unique voices.

Awards & Prizes

All Officially Selected projects in each month will receive SIFF laurels and certificates.

All monthly Award Winners will receive laurel and customized certificates along with a rating of their film on their respective IMDb pages (if applicable).

Besides the WINNER AWARD, we also offer OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS, CRITICS CHOICE AWARDS and HONOURABLE MENTION AWARDS, which are given, in all categories.

Each year we select the Best of the Winners from all Monthly Winners. The FINAL WINNERS receive the prestigious ANNUAL AWARD and are screened at the theatre in Singapore in front of a wide audience.

Rules & Terms

Please read these Rules & Terms carefully before you submit your film. By submitting your film into competition in the SIFF Awards, you expressly acknowledge and agree that you shall be bound by the terms of these Rules & Terms.
SIFF is open to any film, regardless of content, subject, or origin. Submitting your film to the SIFF is not a guarantee of selection. All the official selections, nominees, and winners will be listed on our website permanently. We treat every filmmaker equally.
1.The film submitted to SIFF for a particular month can be re-submitted at any time for a second chance, considering that we have different judges’ panels for each season.
2. Films made in languages other than English must have English subtitles otherwise they will be summarily rejected.
3. The SIFF reserves the right to refuse entries.
4. A director/producer may submit more than one film in a category and more than one category at a time.
5.You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the SIFF, from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, and publicity.
6. After a film has been an official selection, the filmmaker will be notified, and eventually, the film will be listed on the festival website under Official Selections. The Official Selection status doesn’t mean that your film will be screened at the festival. It means that your film has been appreciated by our judges of the panel and you can use the festival logo on your poster.
7. The SIFF will not refund any fees if the filmmaker fails to submit the film in the correct category. Films submitted without the correct fees or proper submission media may be deemed ineligible at the discretion of the SIFF programming director or executive director. The festival does not cover any of the expenses incurred by the filmmaker.
8. We require an official trailer or poster, synopsis, and a link to your film. Please select the correct category while submitting to avoid disqualification. We reserve the right to re-assign films to the appropriate category.
9. A nominee will be privately screened for the SIFF judging panel, and will not be screened initially to the public.
10. A filmmaker’s submission fee will not be reimbursed if they decide to withdraw their submission. All entry fees are non-refundable.
11. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the SIFF, from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, and publicity.
12. SIFF may without advance notice amend these Rules & Terms from time to time. Each and every amendment shall become effective immediately. It is your responsibility to periodically check for updates of these Rules & Terms.
