This competition festival is open for documentary movies from around the world without subject restrictions. Budapest International Documentary Festival is the only international documentary festival in the capital of Hungary. It has an international jury of 5 professionals in every section and it gives 5-6 awards with prize money along with other rewards and special mentions. Also this is an annual project with monthly displays.

Documentary films of any length.
A synopsis (max.200).
A curriculum vitaeas a filmography of the director.
A link or 2 DVDs is mandatory for preview purposes.
The selection for any of the competition sections of the documentary film program does not require a first screening in Hungary, but such premiers will be preferred. World, international or European premieres will be prioritized.
The Festival will accept DCP, 35mm and BluRay Discs.
The competition entries will be screened in their original version with English and Hungarian subtitles or a Hungarian voice-over translation of the documentary.
