Director's Biography

Vidal D’ Costa hails from Goa. She is also a freelance content writer, film critic and film journalist as well as a self-published author in sci-fi and romance genres in print and digital and a blogger.
While pursuing her postgraduate studies at The New School, New York, she wrote and produced a documentary on excessive retouching in print and digital media and its negative impact on body image called ‘Airbrushed Beyond Recognition’ which was screened at various global film festivals across US, UK, Italy, Bolivia, etc, and even received an honorary mention at the Student World Impact Film festival in 2022. Her other short films include the low-budget mockumentary 'Vidal D'costa presents Mocking the Mundane' (originally conceived as a series of humorous sketches) and her most recent short film, 'I Could Try To Carry On' which is based on her blank verse poem 'Bruised Battered and Bullied'.
The films are available to stream via digital platforms such as Versus media, Apple TV, Roku, My Cinema Hall, Youtube, Vimeo, Varivas and Films For Action and were also featured in publications such as Movie Buff, Radio Times and Deed News.
She feels inspired by the works of Mira Nair, Taika Waititi, Conan O'Brien, Aanand L Rai and Shoojit Sircar (to name just a few).

Director's Statement

I find cinema and television both to be a great medium to effectively convey a progressive message and hence will continue to make movies that touch upon sensitive subjects/social commentary.
