Director's Biography
Suraj, a software professional by day and filmmaker by passion, hails from a society where storytelling is a way of life. Balancing code and creativity, he began his cinematic journey while still working in IT, driven by a relentless love for cinema. Eager to learn the craft, he dove into short filmmaking as his personal film school. One of those early efforts, PremaKatha, not only sharpened his skills but also earned recognition at six international short film festivals, an encouraging nod to his emerging voice.
In 2024, Suraj made his directorial debut with GROUND, a bold Telugu theatrical release that disrupted traditional filmmaking norms with its raw, minimalist aesthetic. The film stood out for its unflinching realism and became a testament to Suraj’s belief that powerful stories don’t need extravagance, they just need truth.
Deeply influenced by filmmakers like Ram Gopal Varma, David Fincher, and Steven Spielberg, Suraj has cultivated a unique style, fusing realism with gripping narrative tension. His strength lies in telling intimate, grounded stories that feel like they could happen just next door, yet unfold with cinematic weight. As he continues to walk the fine line between reality and imagination, Suraj is poised to bring unexpected, unforgettable tales to life.
Director's Statement
A sharp and unsettling drama, the film takes a realistic approach in showing how social media, viral fame, and fake news distort identity and truth, ultimately exposing the fragility of a generation addicted to online validation. It blurs the line between reality and performance, mirroring the very platforms it critiques.
A raw, unbroken 100-minute dashcam pov take—no cuts, no artifice. Pure daylight, black-and-white realism, and only real-world sound. Every moment unfolds exactly as it happens, with nowhere to hide.
