Director's Biography
Ready to watch films about the unassuming everyman searching for connection and escaping the ordinary? Then you need to meet Chris Ross Leong.
As the maker of “NeverWere”, “LoveBeats” and “The Burrow”, Kolkata-born Asian Brit Chris is well-versed in crafting cross-cultural, connection-driven films that transcend borders, utilizing his extensive hands-on knowledge of every step in the creation of feature films, and uncovering the human element in everything from feature-length to silent short films.
Working with Chris has resulted in profitable shorts, Emmy-winning editing, Best Cinematographer, Best Concept, Best Screenplay, Best Experimental Film awards. His "LoveBeats" has received more than 50 laurels, and his recently-launched "Neverwere", sweet 16 to date.
When this generalist filmmaker isn’t globetrotting with a camera, you can find him fencing, flying or touring single malt distilleries and vineyards around the globe.
Director's Statement
This one, "Deadeye" is a personal one for me in that I was on competitive shooting events in many categories - and have never, like the protagonist in "Deadeye", shot at anything other than a paper target.
This is about a person, in this case a strong-willed woman who refuses to bow down to power, whether that be political, criminal, whatever. Just because she's attractive and also smart.
A story that's long, long overdue!
