Director's Statement
ICE CREAM was born from one of the most personal and unconventional choices of my life — honoring my father’s passing in a way that defied tradition, yet felt deeply true to who he was. Grief often arrives as silence, but for me, it also carried rebellion — the quiet, stubborn belief that love is greater than ritual.
The film is not a literal retelling, but a poetic distillation of that moment. I wanted to explore how memory, especially in loss, is never linear — it is a patchwork of tenderness, laughter, and the smallest shared joys, like enjoying the delicacies of life together. These fragments become our real inheritance.
Through sparse dialogue, surreal imagery, and deliberate pacing, ICE CREAM invites the audience into an emotional space where grief transforms into something unexpectedly liberating. It is both an elegy and a celebration — not just for my father, but for the courage to say goodbye on one’s own terms.
