Director's Statement

AIM Television first produced a feature documentary on Kashmir under commission from Discovery Channel in 2014. The film was called ‘Revealed: Line of Control’. This film was a big success on television. Thereafter, Discovery Channel again commissioned AIM Television in 2015 to produce another film on Kashmir called, ‘Revealed: Siachen’. This film made about the high-altitude war in the Himalayas between India and Pakistan premiered on Discovery Channel on January 26, 2016.
Following on the success of these two films, Times TV Network commissioned AIM Television in 2017 to produce a 6x60 minute series for the Times Now channel called “The Story of Jammu & Kashmir”.
The new documentary Kashmir’s Troubled Waters is based on the award-winning book “Kashmir’s Untold Story- Declassified “by authors Iqbal Chand Malhotra and Maroof Raza and is published by Bloomsbury.
The film examines the link between terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir and the as yet undeclared hybrid war between China & Pakistan on one side and India on the other side, for control of India’s legal share of the region’s water supplies. It looks at how the failure during sea trials of two of the US Navy’s latest stealth destroyers USS Zumwalt and USS Michael Monsoor and the Royal Navy’s stealth destroyer HMS Duncan are connected to the supply of faulty microchips supplied by China. Further, it examines how this led in turn to a US embargo on the supply of high-end microchips to China. The consequence of this action in turn has forced China into creating a brand-new facility to produce these embargoed microchips in Xinjiang bordering the state of Jammu & Kashmir. The logic of locating this new facility in Xinjiang is because it is the closest to the waters of the Indus river water flowing through this state into Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
