Director's Statement
Acting is not only about techniques, but also about conducting oneself. This film records how the Acting School of Beijing Film Academy integrates the work of ideology and politics into teaching. Quietly planting the seeds of red-revolution spirit in the students' hearts and utilizing the features of character building in the teaching of acting to educate the students about patriotism.
The movie adopts a unique "play within a play" structure, combining theater and film acting to reveal the "mysterious" teaching process of the Acting School of Beijing Film Academy. In terms of characterization, the contrasts in the characters are shaped to reveal their growth and changes. A group of seemingly off-key young adults, far removed from the words of war and calamity, are eventually transformed into true Resistance soldiers, standing on the stage.
Acting study brings students not only the improvement of specialized knowledge but also the growth of the soul. Words such as honesty, bravery, responsibility, and unity can also become the core of this film. Students are not only portraying the characters, but also shaping their correct values as an actor and moreover as an adult. The short film also reveals that art teaching is people-oriented, adheres to center around people as the creative direction, and promotes the socialist value of hardworking spirit. At the same time, it also wants more audience to understand art teaching and build bridges of communication through the short film.
In the transition of spring and summer, in the campus of sweat and strength, what grows quietly is not only those lush plants, but also the faith as actors in the hearts of these young people.
