Director’s Statement for Sesh Belay Tumi

As a filmmaker, I have always believed that the most powerful stories are often those that are deeply personal and emotionally raw. Sesh Belay Tumi is a reflection of that belief — a story about love, loss, and the inevitable passage of time. Set against the serene yet melancholic backdrop of Sabroom, Tripura, the film explores the bittersweet journey of two people whose lives and hearts are intertwined by a love that cannot withstand the tests of fate.

When I first envisioned this film, I wanted to create a narrative that felt both intimate and universal — a story that resonates with anyone who has ever experienced the pain of unspoken words, unfinished goodbyes, or the lingering memories of lost love. The film’s mode of storytelling is deeply rooted in human emotions, and I have worked closely with my co-writer, Nisha Deb, to craft a screenplay that allows these emotions to unfold slowly, giving the audience a chance to feel the weight of each moment.

The choice of Sabroom as our location was not merely for its natural beauty, but because it mirrors the emotional landscape of the story. Its quiet, peaceful environment contrasts with the turmoil inside the characters, which helps accentuate the solitude they feel in the aftermath of their love.

Working with an incredible team of actors — Pranab Kr Nath (myself), Nisha Deb, Pranoy Roy, and Sonali Nama — has been an unforgettable experience. Each of them brought a depth to their roles that transcended the script, making the characters come alive in a way I hadn’t imagined. I’m truly grateful for their dedication and ability to convey such powerful emotions on screen.
