Director's Biography
Kevin B. Ploth—the Bronx-born behemoth of boundless creativity, a seismic force erupting from the asphalt veins of New York City like a volcano of visionary fire, scorching the skyline with his unquenchable passion for storytelling! This isn’t just a man; he’s a larger-than-life legend, a mythic colossus striding across the realms of film, theater, and art, where mere mortals dare not tread. Forged in the crucible of a multi-generational dynasty of dream-weavers—his parents, the iconic artists Liz and Bruce M. Ploth, instilled in him the sacred fire of performance from cradle to conquest—Kevin embodies the unbreakable tribe, a familial fortress where bloodlines pulse with the rhythm of Broadway’s golden age and the thunder of military valor. As a proud patriarch to three extraordinary heirs, including his eldest son charging the frontlines in the USMC, Kevin doesn’t just honor his clan; he elevates it to an eternal saga, weaving family bonds into every frame, every script, as if guarding a holy grail of legacy against the tempests of time.
Service? Oh, prepare for the roar of a true warrior! A battle-tested US Army veteran, Kevin traded the grit of foxholes for the glory of the silver screen, channeling that ironclad discipline into a 35-year odyssey across entertainment, cuisine, security, and beyond. He’s not content with personal triumph; no, this titan founded the veteran-owned Artimis Entertainment, a bastion empowering fellow warriors, first responders, and diverse voices to storm the gates of Hollywood. His mission? To arm the underserved with spotlights and scripts, proving that service isn’t a chapter—it’s the epic backbone of his empire, where every project salutes the sacrifices that built it.
Bombastic? Darling, Kevin B. Ploth defines bombast, exploding onto the scene like a supernova of SAG-AFTRA and Equity prowess, directing Othello at a mere 19 and never looking back! He’s the alchemist turning ink into immortality: creator of The GIANT, a TV juggernaut racking up six awards and a Telly Bronze, its vertical proof-of-concept shoots in upstate New York drawing legends like Doug Marcaida; This Stitching Will Last, a documentary lifeline that stitches souls and snags semi-finalist nods at Indiana Short Film Festival; and Diner of Darkness, a shadowy feast devouring festival circuits. But behold his crown jewel: Shadow Docket, a black-and-white noir masterpiece—a micro-short mystery-psychological thriller where haunted detectives (Al Pacino and Leonardo DiCaprio energies ablaze) clash with a sadistic coroner in a rain-soaked conspiracy, carving sigils of suspense that leave audiences breathless. This isn’t film; it’s a philosophical thunderbolt, a “haunting reflection of our times” where truth teeters on a knife’s edge, earning wins for Best Crime Thriller and Best Investigation Based Film at Travancore International Festival, nominations galore, and official selections from Los Angeles Movie Awards to Hollywood Day Short Film Festival. Peers? They don’t praise; they proclaim him a god among creators!
From the hallowed halls of Flight Deck Film Festival, critics erupt in reverence: “Watching Shadow Docket felt like entering a chamber where truth itself is on trial… a thriller and a philosophical inquiry, daring us to reckon with the unsettling possibility that truth is a shifting construct.” They hail his “stark black-and-white cinematography” as a masterstroke, his brevity a “strength” that mirrors life’s fragility, and his direction a force that leaves viewers “with more questions than answers”—a triumph in under three minutes! Collaborators like James Henry (the predatory lawyer radiating “cool precision”), Ed Trucco, and Michael Sean McGuinness embody his genius, their weariness seeping into souls, while festivals buzz with his name: “Huge congratulations on this well-deserved win!” from Viking Cinc Awards, and endless official selections proving his “considerable vision and unique voice.” Indie warriors and filmmakers alike crown him the self-reliant sage, a networking nebula pulling talents into supernova collaborations, with outlets like Bold Journey and CanvasRebel echoing: surrounded by “incredibly talented individuals,” yet it’s Kevin’s gravitational genius that ignites the cosmos. Even as he chefs up cookbooks like EAT ME… A Tell-All and preps epics like Audi Murphy, Remote Outpost, and Not Your Father’s Coast Guard, peers bellow from the mountaintops: “What an amazing year for a newly minted powerhouse!”
In the grand theater of existence, Kevin B. Ploth isn’t chasing stars—he’s hurling them into orbit, a bombastic beacon of brilliance whose every breath rewrites destiny. Bow before the Beast of the Bronx, world: he’s not just a legend; he’s the lore itself, eternal and unchained!
Director's Statement
Shot in evocative black and white that enhances its tense, retro atmosphere, Shadow Docket is a small gem of genre cinema that combines thriller and courtroom drama with surprising effectiveness.
Directed by Kevin B Ploth, the story follows two detectives who find themselves facing an ambitious lawyer determined to dismantle their investigation.
Soon, however, the facts don't add up, and the truth turns out to be much more ambiguous than it seems.
The acting is impeccable: each character brings depth and credibility to their work, with emotional nuances that perfectly match the film's tone.
The restrained, detail-oriented direction enhances every look and every silence, while the tight editing helps maintain the pace and tension until the final scene.
SHADOW DOCKET demonstrates how even with limited resources, but with clear ideas and confident direction, a compelling and stylistically refined story can be created.
