The Night of Samedi is a film with an innovative narrative structure, the story is told from two different points of view simultaneously - that of the twin brothers, who are reconstructing the secret involved in their story, which they didn't know.
The narrative structure also intersperses different moments in time: past, present and future merge, shattering the viewer's expectations and making them empathize with this boy who is struggling to find the Truth and his identity.
A closer look at the symbolism and mythology involved can reveal to the more attentive viewer different layers of interpretation for the story:
The clear association between the state of suspension of consciousness of the zombies who fight hungrily for survival and their origin in one of Brazil's many slave cemeteries, the connections made in history to the imprisonment of blacks born and killed in slavery in a karmic cycle for generations, presents a different perspective, from both an aesthetic and ethical point of view to the figure of zombies and rituals, as opposed to the superficiality of traditional horror films, and aims to provoke reflection and identification with hidden aspects of human nature and the voodoo tradition itself.
This more refined view of spirituality and the aspects of innovation in language proposed by the narrative structure and the return to the figure of the classic hero in search of his identity make “The Night of Samedi” a memorable film, which transcends the spheres of mere entertainment and gratuitous terror, giving the viewer an opportunity to reflect and exercise their wits to discover the secrets encoded between the lines and in the hidden symbols.

In addition to a complex Direction, The Night of Samedi was also a challenge to edit. The film was finalized in 2010 when we could afford the technology to make all the special effects that we can see in the movie. Edited using a MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard OS) and a notebook ACER Intel Core i3 Windows 7 OS, we struggled with incompatibilities between Operational Systems and Full HD quality, which was not supported by both notebooks to edit. So, it was edited in parts, and the result (the entire film) was impossible to see while editing because both computers did not have enough memory to process it.

The Night of Samedi is challenging to direct because of its narrative and editing due to the technology available (and affordable) at that time.
