Director's Statement

This is my second film I wrote and directed. The idea and inspiration popped up to me when talking about a safe with somebody, and I got started. I felt there could be many stories attached to this safe box, its role, what could be in it, what dreams are triggered by it, imagining all the twists that could come along stealing such a private part of somebody, invading its owner’s private space, hence a dark crime thriller was born. So, I just sat down and started writing a screenplay that would happen basically in my neighborhood, and I was already seeing me directing this play, choosing all the locations and meeting the people from my town that could help producing this small time crook and gangster story.
Surprisingly, or not, everybody I approached was mesmerised and ready to help, and while choosing the cast, I felt this could be a great adventure too. Everybody was excited to start shooting which we did not long after having finished the script. We wanted to accomplish something special, and it was felt in the air without much words.
Sometimes it was quite demanding as we shot also during the nights and the schedule was tight, so there was always a healthy push forward so to speak, by me I guess, a little worried it would water down if we don’t keep the momentum of excitement going. Sometimes, it seemed to be all chaotic when we had many location changes in one day for example, but I trusted it will all come together right, so I kept pushing, and even adding new twists.
At the end, I must say it was great fun, work too obviously, but one complements the other, right? Big thanks to the whole team, supporters and helpers, who made this movie happen.
