I created Watermarked because although we spend so much of our lives searching for love, we rarely stop to think about love itself.

What is love?

Where does it come from?

Why do we need it so deeply?

I wanted this work to give people a moment to think about the very thing we spend so much of our lives searching for.

I also wanted people to look at the emptiness and loneliness within themselves. We often try to fill that emptiness with things outside of us—with pleasure, excitement, people, or new experiences.

They may make us feel better for a while, but in the end, we can find ourselves sitting in an even deeper hole.

It is like we can go out with friends, laugh and have a wonderful time, then come home alone and still feel a void that we cannot escape.

I wanted to ask what could truly reach that place within us and heal it.

What is it about love that gives it such extraordinary power in our lives?

And this longing does not belong to just one person. We all seem to carry it. If human beings are made with this deep need for love, we must have been designed this way.

This led me to a “watermark”—love as something already imprinted deep within us.

And I want people to think about this at a fundamental level.

I first wrote the lyrics and melody and created the song Watermarked with French producer Doubtless. I then created the music video to give those questions a visual form.

Leeds is a South Korean singer-songwriter and visual creator with a master’s degree in contemporary music. Alongside her work as a vocalist and songwriter, she has expanded her creative work into music video production, creating visual works for her own music. She has directed and created music videos including Watermarked, How Can I Do That? (MV Ver.), and Me in a Broken Bubble (MV Ver.). In Watermarked, she uses AI-generated imagery, stock footage, and editing to visually explore a fundamental question about the human search for love.
