About

Diamond Star International Film Festival is an prestige event that organised and held in this beautiful Northern Region of Malaysia, Penang. Pearl of the Orient. The Film Festival being supported and endorsed by local government State of Penang and Filming Association of Penang. Diamond Star International Film Festival is also a IMDB listed Festival. Awardees or Nominees may update their film IMDB Page with our Festival's Award.

Diamond Star International Film Festival a physical event with screenings of selected titles to the public, Social Networking Dinner together with local artistes, distributors, producers, directors and a lot more.

2nd Season Film Festival Grand Gala awards presentation plans to be held on March 2024. Local Famous Films Artistes will be the awards presentation guests. Local Medias and Internet Live TV will cover the events to gain maximum exposures of our award winning films and their producers/directors. Red carpet and live interview. On Gala Night will have estimating thousand of guests from local film industry as well as other potential investors will be at the gala dinner to witness the honourable moment of your winning films.

Not all awards will be given out subject to the films quality that submitted to that particular season.

Rules & Terms

We now ask that all entrants submit their films through WFCN.

Film Will only need to submit 1 Entry on the Main Category such as " Feature Film" or " Short Film", if your film being official selected, all official films will be automatic competing all awards titles such as "Best Features" or " Best Director" etc.

All films must be submitted as either an online screener or Vimeo link for consideration. If links are password-protected, passwords must be valid through March 1st, 2024 or your submission will be considered INVALID and will be DISQUALIFIED with no refund.

After submitting, please check your WFCN account to make sure that your submission meets our requirements and has been accepted for consideration. It is your responsibility to make sure all requirements are met and necessary information is given. Within one/two weeks after your submission date, you'll receive a confirmation email that we've received your submission, as well as any potential notifications of further information we need from you.

Films selected for the 2nd DSIFF will be announced no later than , March, 2024. Written feedback from our screening team will be provided post-festival for all films that pay to submit in full, if requested.

Productions made after June 1, 2018 may be submitted, with the exception of those works previously submitted to DSIFF. No works previously submitted to the festival will be considered.

All films under 45 minutes are considered short films.

Do not submit works in progress. Do not submit industrial or instructional works.
All feature films submitted must be available for exhibition in one of the following formats: DCP (preferably unencrypted) or as a DSIFF-approved ProRes digital file.

All short films submitted must be available for exhibition as a DSIFF-approved ProRes digital file. Short films will be transferred temporarily onto DSIFF’s secure and private hard drive system for presentation in one or more of our compiled short programs.
Filmmakers are responsible for the shipment of the exhibition copy to DSIFF by the requested deadline.

DSIFF reserves the right to use images from the films selected for marketing purposes (web, print media, and television).

Theatrical distribution category is for foreign producers that wish their film being distributed in Malaysia's Cinemas or sell to VOD platform etc. The fee is for our company processing fee, to get the respective producers to our Malaysia distributors. Successful on the distribution still depend on your commercial quality of your film and deal between distributors and producers.
